More than just bronzer: A movie review!

A couple weeks ago I became involved in a twitter conversation that began with,  


"Boston fitness/healthy living bloggers needed to participate in a review of a new documentary".

Well, hello. I'm in.

I got connected to Matt Perkins, Producer for InsidersHealth.com, Contributor for Diet.com and Owner of Triumph Team Fitness.

The movie I was to watch and review centered around the world of all-natural fitness competitors. It zeros in on two individuals, one male one female. They are both extremely relatable. From being a mom to battling obesity, these competitors share one commonality; determination.  

The film focuses a lot on the myths and misconceptions of this industry. Extreme diets. Only young competitors. Unhealthy exercise techniques. Drugs. 

It's fantastic to see such strong individuals work so hard towards this goal! Also featured is Cathy Savage, former fitness competitor, coach and owner of Cathy Savage Fitness. Her high energy team is not only motivational, but realistic. She states multiple times in the film that love is the most important part. You must love your body and yourself in order to succeed. 

The film ends with the individuals competing for the title on stage at Foxwoods Casino. 

As a viewer the transformations of these athletes is tangible. The change is much deeper than the hue of the bronzer or the height of the heels. 

Their confidence shines through as they come across the stage beaming with pride.

They logged the hours. They dedicated the time. They ate clean, trained hard and persevered. 

No starvation, no steroids. 

Just honest hard work. 

This was a great film that is making me consider training for a fitness competition! 

It's Any Body's Game, why not?
